In MedLife Genetics Centre, we use  internationally renowned technology which is unique in Romania, offering a large range of analyses at your diposal. In our centres, we use various genopattern techniques (the genopatterning is the process of determination of the genetic variants of an individual) and sequencing (the determination of the precise order of the nucleotides in a DNA sequence). In our laboratory, genopatterning is performed through PCR and Real Time PCR, while for sequencing we use the classic Sanger type sequencing, as well as the sequencing of the state fo the art sequencing of Illumina.

Sanger sequencing (capillary electrophoresis) is currently considered “the golden standard”  in the sequencing field. Also, through capillary electrophoresis, we perform the analysis of the lenght of the fragments with a large applicability for the identification of the deletion/duplication in the clinically relevant genes. The state of the art sequencing platform from Illumina is based on the sequencing technology through synthesis, which allows the obtention of high quality results used for the identification of mutations both in normal tissue and tumor tissue.

The use of the state of art sequencing offers a series of specific advantages: it offers the possibility of sequencing some sets of genes at associated costs clearly inferior to the Sanger technology and assures the possibility of detecting rare mutations present in the sample (extremely important for the tumor tissure analysis).
